If you enjoy caring for patients within a team as a valued member then I would definitely recommend dental nursing as a career. My favourite part of my job is patient satisfaction. I really get a buzz when the patient walks away happy.

I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of dental care professional including dentists, registrars, hygienists, dental therapists, and orthodontists. I have had the chance to assist on various different departments in a hospital setting including restorative, children’s dentistry, orthodontics, sedation, acute dental care, minor oral surgery and one day care unit.

Dental nursing is a great job! It gives me the opportunity to work with various patients with numerous dental problems. It makes me feel good when I know that I have helped them out of pain. The experiences from this course will be my stepping stones to furthering my career as an orthodontic nurse in the future.

Dental nursing is a very rewarding career; the best part is working with the patients. There are more males starting to work as dental nurses, and this is a good thing as we have to deal with patients from diverse backgrounds, so the team needs to reflect this diversity. I’m hoping to progress into hygiene therapy eventually and the diploma course definitely gives me a head start in that direction.
